Unbelievable Progress!

A “Journey Home” looks totally different since our last update! Progress has certainly been made. Cream painted Hardie Board cornices look crisp and clean against the brick and stone exteriors. The beautiful Old World Stone on the house, the Cabana, and Potting Shed is stone from a local quarry in Alabama and is carefully installed by Lagasse Construction. Isn’t it gorgeous! The stone compliments the traditional Old Mississippi Queen brick perfectly. The Cabana in the back of the home has come a long way. The vaulted ceiling consists of tongue and groove beautiful, cedar. Cedar columns with stone at the bottom will also outline this open-air space nicely. The stone doesn’t stop there; the fireplace will be stone as well, from floor to ceiling.
The front door of the home has been installed and makes a GREAT first impression! The double arched, French doors are filled with gorgeous leaded glass; you have to check out the photo in our photo section.
Progress is being made everyday, check back soon for more exciting happenings at our “Journey Home!”

Cabana, Potting Shed, HVAC and Electrical...The Journey Continues.

“A Journey Home” is a busy “home site” these days! Electrical rough wiring of the home is almost complete. In the back of the home the Potting Shed and Cabana is being framed. The Cabana is going to be a great place for our homeowners to entertain family and friends as well as relax and look out onto the pool. The Cabana will even have an outdoor fireplace, bathroom, and kitchen area.  Next up G&G Roofing will install roof shingles.  The interior of the home will soon have sheetrock.  This is an exciting part for the homeowners, they can finally see their vision and dream come to life.

We have windows and doors! Pella Windows and Doors are being set and installed and look fabulous! The aluminum clad full SDL (simulated divided light) windows are not only architecturally pleasing to the design of the house; they are energy efficient as well. The living room has 3 beautiful twin units of French Doors with an active center door. There is also a large barrel window in the dormer of the vaulted ceiling in the living room that is going to let in natural light. Jackson Heating and Air is busy roughing-in the heating and air conditioning system. This part of the process is so exciting and the house is becoming more of a home everyday! Check back soon for the latest progress of “A Journey Home.”

Interior shots after framing...It's starting to take shape!

Framing is well under way. This stage of the process will require a job site walk-through with the Interior Designer, Framer, and Michael Allen Monk to come together to discuss and address changes, if any, that will be needed. For example, the kitchen opens into the Living Room and the arched walls that separate the two are discussed making sure they meet the design expectations of the Interior Designer and homeowner. This also is a critical time to discuss support beam placement and roof design to ensure an architecturally pleasing and structurally sound roof. The height of the vaulted ceilings, both interior and exterior is discussed to ensure proper ceiling height placement. This stage of building process is so exciting for the homeowners. They actually get to walk through their home, see actual walls in place, and start to see their dream taking shape!

.It is amazing how quickly a home takes shape! Framing has begun and it is remarkable that by the end of the first day the dream is becoming a reality. Our framing subcontractor, Scott Vaughn Framers is doing an excellent job and has been working hard to meet the demands of all the architectural features this home will have. Our “Journey Home” is unique in the fact it is filled with incredible architectural details such as custom designed tray ceilings, gorgeous barrel vaults, unique roof lines, and many other details that take shape during the framing stage. This home is definitely in a league of its own, with its custom features that will set this home apart. Our Interior Designer Stacey Jordan, ASID with I.E. Designs and our Plan Designer Joy Brown have worked closely with the clients to design a home that will meet their design expectations and their needs as homeowners.
